Brutø

Identity

"A memorable identity for an unforgettable restaurant."

Brand identity for Brutø, James Beard nominee Kelly Whitaker's Denver restaurant focused on locally-sourced ingredients and heritage grains.

Brutø — branding visual

In 2019, chef and James Beard nominee Kelly Whitaker opened Brutø inside Denver, Colorado's Free Market marketplace. One of nine small retail spaces, Brutø prides itself on locally-sourced ingredients and heritage grains, with a focus on sustainability.

The Brutø logo is inspired by the rustic yet soft restaurant space, with its concrete and wooden elements. The studio developed the Ø wordmark to be strong yet elegant, able to stand independently across business cards, social platforms and indoor signage.

Elegant yet casual, market-fresh and shared.

The rich teal branding colour echoes the earthy colours of produce while balancing well with interior elements such as green tiles and indoor plants.

Brutø's identity brings to life its focus on elegant yet casual dining and a modern menu of seasonal, shared plates — including a custom order sheet that guests fill out themselves at the table.
