"Coffee as a cultural vehicle, not the hero."

A material-driven coffee space in the LA Arts District, rooted between Berlin and Los Angeles. Brand strategy, identity direction, and a headless Shopify site — built for the crowd that already knows good things when they see them.

Concierge Coffee space, LA Arts District

Concierge Coffee sits at 821 Traction Avenue in LA's Arts District — sharing an entrance with Departamento, neighboured by the city's most culturally literate crowd. Founded by Benjamin and Namy, the space is an extension of the Klein Agency aesthetic: raw, material, unhurried. The interior is their canvas. The coffee is the constant.

Working as independent creative consultant alongside the founders, the brief covers brand strategy and positioning, identity direction, and a full e-commerce website — headless Shopify with editorial frontend, built for both the LA and Berlin markets simultaneously.

01 — Brand Strategy

Between two cities. Neither explaining itself.

Concierge Coffee sits at 821 Traction Avenue in LA's Arts District — sharing an entrance with Departamento, neighbours with the city's most culturally literate crowd. The brand stretches between two cities with different frequencies: Berlin's underground credibility and neighbourhood permanence, LA's lifestyle energy and collab culture. Not trying to bridge them — just existing naturally in both.

Coffee as a cultural vehicle, not the hero.

Warm, confident, lightly playful — and never precious about it. The visual language is minimal and documentary: mood over product, hands and textures over hero shots. Packaging draws from a Bauhaus palette of muted blues, greens, and brick tones — tactile paper, embossed details, two colorways to distinguish espresso from filter. The kind of brand people recognise before they read the name.

03 — The Space

Designed by Klein Agency. 821 Traction Ave.

The physical space is the brand's first and strongest statement. Klein Agency — the husband-and-wife studio of Maša and Jon Kleinhample, based in Downtown LA — designed and fabricated the interior. Warm concrete, tactile surfaces, bespoke furniture. The kind of space that makes people slow down without being told to.

04 — Website

Headless Shopify. Full creative control.

The site is built headless — editorial HTML/CSS/JS frontend with Shopify Storefront API handling products, cart, and checkout invisibly in the background. Same workflow as the portfolio and Samsation. Shopify does the commerce; the frontend does the brand. Full bleed photography, minimal nav, sparse copy. The aesthetic of the physical space, translated to screen.

In progress

Website build and identity system currently in development. This case study will be updated as the project progresses through launch. Process documentation, brand assets, and final site coming as the project develops.

Concierge Coffee is a specialty coffee roaster and space founded in Los Angeles and Berlin by Benjamin and Namy. Working as independent creative consultant: brand strategy and positioning, identity direction, and a headless Shopify e-commerce site. The brief: lean, simple but modern. LA fashion/coffee vibe.
