"The FvF idea, translated into a new medium."

Concept, design and development of the Freunde von Freunden iPad Magazine: a freemium app bringing FvF's visual and journalistic storytelling to the tablet, with a premium edition made free at launch in partnership with Vitra.

After three years of growing the FvF magazine, publishing its first book and building international teams, the next step was to bring the FvF idea to a new medium. Rather than simply porting the website to an app, the goal was an independent product that translated FvF's storytelling into the iPad context.

The result combined unique visual and journalistic storytelling with high-quality video and interviews, portraying creative minds in their living and working environments. The standard version offered ten interviews for free, with a premium edition unlocking exclusive content from the FvF Berlin and FvF Friends books, behind-the-scenes material and iPad-only stories.

FvF, designed to stand on its own on the iPad.
01 — Concept, Design & Development

Built for touch, from the ground up.

The app was conceived, designed and developed in-house at MoreSleep: a built-in video player, iPad-optimised gestures, portrait and landscape reading modes, and offline downloads via Pack&Go. Thanks to a partnership with Vitra, the premium version was offered for free throughout the launch phase.

The Freunde von Freunden iPad Magazine was a consistent continuation of the FvF idea, built to stand alone within the iPad context rather than as a repackaged website.

Concept, design and development was led by MoreSleep, FvF's mother agency, with the app launched as a freemium product and made fully accessible at launch through a partnership with Vitra.
